NVIDIA’s Open Agent Safety Platform combines OpenShell, an open-source runtime that restricts what an AI agent can access, with an optional hardware-based watchdog called Sentry running on BlueField-4.

NVIDIA says Sentry can quarantine agents that try to cross their boundaries in milliseconds.

But there’s an important catch: an agent can still cause damage while staying completely inside the permissions you gave it.

AI agent security isn’t just about stopping an escape. It’s about deciding what the agent should have been allowed to do in the first place.
